Sunday night's X Factor was all about surprises - Aiden Grimshaw's elimination, a nail-biting deadlock, Katie Waissel's survival into yet another week, and then there was Cheryl Cole's hair...!

Although no stranger to a spot of experimentation, Ms C showed off one of her most unusual looks to date, wearing her locks in two head-topping loops, much like Minnie Mouse ears.

Perhaps an homage to Lady Gaga and her signature hair bows, whatever her inspiration, the styling was quite the departure for the Girls Aloud, who wore her locks up and with a face-framing plait the night before.
