Italian Air force gets its own supercar
Italian supercar maker Pagani has revealed a unique Zonda built in tribute to the Italian air force's aerobatic team.
The Frecce Tricolore are the Italian equivalent of Britain's Red Arrows and the one-off Zonda takes its Tricolore name from the aerobatic team.
Due to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the £1 million Zonda Tricolore has a special carbon fibre finish to its bodywork and is styled to look like one of the jet fighters used by the Frecce Tricolore in their displays.
Unique air intakes are sculpted into the rear wings and the red, white and green stripes of the Italian flag run up either side of the bonnet.
Also unique to this Zonda are the LED daytime running lights that have been set into the front wings underneath the headlights.
Inside, the Zonda Tricolore has blue sports seats and a suede-trimmed steering wheel to mimic the blue uniforms of the pilots and the blue colour scheme of their jets.
Based on the already rare Zonda Cinque, the Tricolore uses the same 678bhp 7.3-litre V12 engine to see it from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds.
Only one of the 220mph Zonda Tricolore supercars will be made by Pagani and it has a price tag of £1 million for any well-heeled fans of the Tricolore Frecce aerobatic team.
