Geneva 2010: Radical Citroen Survolt concept
Geneva 2010: Radical Citroen Survolt concept
- Batteries mounted throughout
- Electric sports car for the race track
- Possible race series
Citroen's Survolt looks every inch the concept car and it's grabbed the imaginations of everyone at the Geneva show. However, this is one concept that could make it into limited production as Citroen says it may well start a race series just for the Survolt.
What's all the fuss about?
Aside from the stunning looks, which are similar to the amazing 'GT by Citroen' concept's, the Survolt has a high-performance electric motor that powers the rear wheels. This makes the Survolt a proper sports car to drive, claims Citroen, which is why it wants to go to the race track with it.
Any new technology?
Rather than have all of its heavy batteries in one place, the Survolt has them distributed all around the car to balance the weight. This displays Citroen's serious intent to make the Survolt handle well and why it's not just a show queen but a possible future production model.
Estimated release date: No word yet, but possibly 2013.
Estimated cost: Not cheap, so think along the lines of £150,000.
